Description

Product Description

Aloin (CAS 1415-73-2), also known as Barbaloin, is a hydroxyanthracene derivative and the primary bitter principle found in the leaf exudate of Aloe species. It is a C-glycoside of aloe-emodin anthrone and represents one of the most abundant phenolic compounds in Aloe latex, typically constituting 70%–97% of the total dry weight of fresh aloe bitters.

Our Aloin Powder is available in ≥90% purity (HPLC-verified), appearing as a yellow to orange-yellow crystalline powder. It is extracted from Aloe barbadensis Miller (syn. Aloe vera) leaf exudate through ethanol reflux extraction and macroporous resin purification processes.

Key Characteristics

High-Purity Single Compound — At ≥90% purity, this product is a refined anthraquinone glycoside, distinct from whole-leaf Aloe extracts that contain polysaccharides, chromones, and other phenolic compounds. This purity level is suitable for research applications and some industrial uses requiring precise compositional control.

Source Material Distinction — Aloin is exclusively found in the leaf exudate (latex/sap), not in the inner gel. The gel, which consists primarily of water and polysaccharides, does not contain aloin. This distinction is critical for understanding Aloin‘s properties and regulatory status.

Documented Biological Activities — Research has characterized Aloin‘s anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, and tyrosinase-inhibitory properties in in vitro studies.

Note: All uses for Aloin Powder must comply with applicable local and international regulations.

Storage: Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated area. Protect from light and moisture. Store at +4°C for optimal stability.
